Umm, i have to strongly disagree with this behavioural change ...

1. for the vtrash to work properly you need to have a deleted message
marked read, which means you need to have a message to be marked unread,
also undeleted.  otherwise you can end up with '2 new messages' in your
inbox, but you can't see them (if you have hide deleted messages set).
2. if a message is to be marked important, then why would you leave it
deleted ... so it could be flushed at any time by mistake.

1 is required, 2 is just to help users.

The actual bug report is just saying that edit->mark as unread doesn't
work the same way as toggling the envelope button, not asking for an
overhaul of the feature/regression from previous behaviour.
