Three things.  

1) It really sucks if the separator behaviour by default it gtk+ differs
from that of the GNOME HIG.  

2) I want Tuomas to take a quick look and ok this and future patches
(although I realize its in and I don't want it reverted).

3) Although it might not possibly apply, this is a large patch and
should likely have copyright assignment.
