Um... I am using 2.2, but I thought the 1.4-forcing was GNOME 1.4 crap,
not GNOME 2 crap? Anyway, I have 1.6 and 1.4 installed, and it uses 1.6
without me saying anything.

Yeah, noticed that. I don't know when that got changed. I wouldn't even
link against gettext though. It's had holes before.
