Im not so sure editing the autogen.sh is such a good idea, i mean, if
the option is used, its needed. Either, try to get ahold of a gnu-find
to your solaris box. Or, grab one from here and compile yourself. If
none of those works, atleast find what the -o option on gnu is on your
solaris.

Then, some error messages would be good, much easier then for people
to guess what can be wrong. :)
Usually there's a error close to the end after autogen.sh has
finished. Try googling that errormessage, often very usefull.
Btw you got all the nessesairy gnome-dev packages? gnome-common?
compiler? make?
