You should read the archives. :)
We are doing this for 2.0, for the wombat, and providing stable api and
abi for applications to use. I am working on integrating gnomemeeting
with this, as well as writing a full-on gnome IM client that will use
the evolution stuff, and integrate with as much as possible.
