PDFs that evince doesn't view properly

I have PDFs that evince doesn't display properly.  What should I
do with them?  I suspect it may be font issues.  I believe it's
generated by MS PowerPoint.

For reference, these view them correctly:
 acroread 7.0
 xpdf 3.01
 gv 3.6.1
 gnome-gv 2.8.5

these don't:
 evince 0.4.0
 gpdf 2.8.2
