As it turns out, the problem was that you need to have the gail
bridge in your GTK_MODULES when you run Eclipse. This is apparently
needed for any GTK+ app that is not a GNOME app, as this is something
GNOME does for free in its initialization.

I'm going to look into maybe trying to add this to the Eclipse
launcher by default.
