dbus build borkage

I wanted to post this to the dbus list, but I can't subscribe to it-
every address I try comes back invalid. So i'm posting here instead.

Dr. Seuss on managing software development:

"I learned there are troubles
of more than one kind.
Some come from ahead
And some come from behind.

But I've bought a big bat.
I'm all ready, you see.
Now my troubles are going
To have troubles with me!"

me on dbus building:

This happens with both gcc 3.4.5 and 4.0.2. Ideas? Fixes?
