No, the view shows all .desktop files on the system, the menu shows all
minus the ones that were disabled/the ones that don't match
OnlyShowIn/ones that don't match category and so on.

So copying to the panel would just do what it does currently (iirc) and
make a copy of the launcher file with a random name.

Could you elaborate? If anybody has better ideas for how this could be
done, I'd love to hear them.
