I'd planned to discuss this 'later' but since it came up... probably
most of you remember the rpm-based snapshots Ximian did around the 2.0
release. We'd like to resurrect those, but with the community's help
this time. Since we've released build-buddy, and joe and co. have
written open carpet, we can now do this, which we couldn't last time
around.

The schedule for this is a bit uncertain; obviously since the source is
out there anyone could go ahead and jump start it, but we're trying to
do it ourselves and arrange hardware and bandwidth for the project.
Since everything would be open, anyone could add support for their
distro of choice and whatever else they wanted.

So... anyone who wants to help and has some serious availability for
this, let me know, and I can put you in touch with the guys at Ximian
who were hoping to surprise people. :) Otherwise, hopefully we'll have
something 'soon'- I feel that the 2.0 snaps helped make the 2.0 release
the most stable one we've ever had, and I hope a new set of snaps on
multiple distros would do the same for 2.8 and every release after that.

Luis
