As a matter of fact, I have code to do this as an applet.  (The code in
CVS is GNOME 1 only.)  I haven't checked in the GNOME 2 stuff in yet
because I'm lazy.

I'll email you a tarball for it in a separate email and check the code
in...  sometime.
