Actually we have a bonobo component in gst-player. Which is used for
the gst-player nautilus-view for instance. It isn't great, but it 
isn't desupported by us so the plan long term is to get in into shape. 

Guess I should talk with Julien to see if we should consider proposing
gst-player for GNOME 2.6.
