RE: gnome system tools

I haven't used g-s-t in more than a year so I cannot comment on their
behavior.  I do recall some discussion regarding single-user verses
system preferences (see the link below).  Should I, as a user, be using
system tools on my desktop?  Are system tools relevant on the desktop?
