GNOME 2.4 API additions

The release-team needs to know what API additions will be in GNOME 2.4
compared to 2.2, so we can worry about them properly. 

Could maintainers tell us what to expect? I don't think we need a list of
evey new function, but at least a description of groups of functions and/or
the functionality they provide might be helpful. Maybe people are already
marking them with something like "New in GNOME 2.4" in the reference
documentation.

The GNOME 2.4 API freeze date is on June 9th:

As ever, you'll be able to make minor API changes after that if necessary,
but you'll have to go through the tedious approval process.
