Just a thought...
Have you considered opening the folder in a new tab ? Maybe it
still violates the patent , maybe its bad UI design , but tabs are
so cool :) ! Besides , it would mesh in neatly with similar usage
in other applications such as gedit , gnome-terminal , galeon
etc.
