The desktop prefs thing (where we are trying to distinguish between
"root" items and "non-root" items using menu structure) hasn't worked
out well, and the structure of these menus is probably up for some
re-organization (esp. looking at what's going on w/ RH stuff). At the
moment I would recommend putting gst stuff in Applications->System Tools
rather than Desktop Prefs->System Tools.
