hi,
i dont subscribe to this list. but I hope The list has a moderator
apart from a bot and will pass my message. please cc me all the reply.
1. I am a gnome terminal user basically, whenever I have to do some perl
scripts or check mail i open a terminal window.
I use xterm for everything else.
WHY?
Gnome Terminal has an extremely heavy footprint I dont know why?
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ Command
2053 pankaj 12 0 11752 11m 7664 S 15.5 5.2 1:15.11 gnome-ter
2. I like the nifty feature in konsole that you can open multiple
tabs and shift between them using [shift] arrow keys; very nice!
I hope gnome terminal will sport them in the near future. The present
tabs are ok too but its the keyboard shortcuts that really matter.
{did not find anything on shortcuts in the help}
3. The thing that bugs me the most about gnome-terminal is that links
{http://www.thisisalink.com} can be clicked but it sports only open
link which is pretty useless because it tries to open some
"hard-corded" browser that dsnt work for me I use Galeon.
I would like the [right-click] on links to open up like it opens up
in Xchat with a lot of options
----------------
|open in mozilla |
|open in konqueror
|open in galeon | ----> ---------------------
|open in lynx | |open in a new window|
|send URL to | |open in an existing window
----------------- |open in a new tab |
I hope someone already is maintaining gnome terminal.
if my "demands" are too off shoot and there is a lack of developers;
I know C and can code but only if someone guides me through the code.
I know nothing about GTK so training me will probably take more time
then somebody fixing it.
But mum always said " give a man a fire and he'll cook for a day;
set him on fire and he will never need to cook anyways" :)
ThanX
hope to get some response.
