TARBALLS DUE STOP
MONDAY 11 AUGUST 2003 STOP
FOR IMMINENT RELEASE OF GNOME DESKTOP TWO STOP FOUR BETA ONE STOP
Hi everyone,
It's time to turn this sometimes-spiky 2.3 caterpillar into a beautiful 2.4
butterfly: It's time for the GNOME Desktop 2.4 Beta 1 release. If the B-word
sounds too scary for you, just think of it as "2.3.6". :-)
And perhaps remember that throughout the 2.3 process, there has been no
significant dogfood-spoiling breakage. That's a great achievement in itself.
This six month release thing really works! So now, it's time for polish and
bug-sniping...
I don't have a deck of cards handy, but here's a web page instead:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/gnome-23-report.html
So, please make tarball releases by Monday, 11th August so that we can
release Beta 1 on Wedesday. Thank you!
Here is a list of modules that haven't been released in some time (excluding
some very basic, stable stuff). Please let us know if there's no need for a
release.
Since 2.3.0:
gnome2-user-docs
gnome-mime-data
gnome-system-monitor
libgail-gnome (since 2.2.0, really)
libgnomecanvas
Since 2.3.1:
gnome-mag
Since 2.3.2:
acme
gnome-themes
libgtop
libwnck
Thanks,
- Jeff
