Linux is a trademark of Linus Torvalds. (You'll see this at the bottom of
most Linux-related web pages.)

GNOME is a (still pending, as far as the Director's Report implied)
trademark of the GNOME Foundation. (The guidelines for usage have not been
published so far.)

foundation-list gnome org is probably a better place for these queries, I've
set my reply-to header to point there.
