[patch] pager on vertical panel

could someone review and commit (if possible) the last patch from

please?

I think this should be fixed before we ship gnome, and thus before the string 
freeze.
This patch fixes a problem where the user interface lets you spezify the 
number of rows of the pager in the interface, but the code uses this as 
columns. This patch just makes the UI change(depends on panel orientation) to 
the interpretation the code uses.
