some bugs

Hi,

I rebuilt everything this morning and checked how many bugs I could
find in a short time. ;-) I don't know when I'll have time to
bugzilla-ize these notes, so I thought I'd mail them for now.

Lots of these are showstopperish.

Havoc

- Panel doesn't seem to get default settings, may be the 
  GConf locale bug

- Background properties capplet appears to be totally non-working, it
  has no effect on the background for me.  Maybe a Nautilus
  issue. (Also, what happened to Seth's prettier capplet?)

- Desktop theme selector comes up with no themes available, 
  and spews several g_warning. Crashes on exit.

- Fontsel spews a warning from tree view when opening font 
  sel dialog:

- Fontsel capplet is not instant apply, I sat there for literally 10
  seconds wondering why it hadn't worked. Also you have to click 
  both OK on the fontsel dialog and Apply on the capplet itself, 
  which is kind of annoying.

- Cursor blink setting in keyboard properties doesn't seem to work

- Global panel properties still contains "keep panel above/below"
  and other non-implementable options, also contains 
  crackrock option "automatically re-check menus", and thinks 
  "Key bindings" is two words. 
  
- The panel global keybindings do not work, AFAICT.

- "Save current session" should probably be in Actions not 
   in Applications/Preferences/, not sure if this is just 
   caused by old GNOME 1 .desktop files

- GTK+ truncates Nautilus bookmark menu for some reason (makes it
  scrollable with plenty of space).  I was getting this in
  gnome-terminal Go menu also, I think it's caused by dynamically
  changing the menu.

- bug-buddy "updating products list" you have to hit Stop 
  manually

- bug-buddy locks up calling sendmail, should use g_spawn_async()
  instead of synchronous method, and allow cancel.

- tasklist properties has the wrong buttons (should be help 
  on the left and Close, instead of Help/Done both on the right)

- CD player seems to have a problem loading configuration, though
  gconf is working fine for the rest of the desktop?  LANG=C doesn't
  help. I get a dialog about "failed to load configuration (null)"
  (btw the dialog is apparently passing NULL to a printf %s, which
  will segv on Solaris)

- Volume control spits a bunch of warnings:

- Everything is spewing warnings about the "response_id" property on 
  GtkButton, I think this is either glade or libglade's fault.

- Logout dialog buttons are packed in some ugly broken-looking way

- Lock Display results in "no screensaver is running" and does nothing

- Metacity and panel get in an infinite loop where panel sets
  _NET_WM_STRUT and WM_NORMAL_HINTS over and over.
  May or may not happen with Sawfish. Fills up metacity.log in 
  a hurry.

- choosing "panel manual" for the panel starts Nautilus 
  instead of yelp, and prints this warning:

- "No Icon" text for the icon picker is truncated if you have a large
  font

- opaque resize looks ugly with Nautilus icon view, maybe need to 
  set ForgetGravity for the background of the icon view?

- Selected icons in Nautilus have text that looks like ass

- Calculator has a funny space at the end of the 
  entry that can't be deleted but can be arrow-keyed over.

- Description of calculator in about dialog needs help
  ("like xcalc" - what's an xcalc)

- Help doesn't come up in gedit

- gedit spew:

- Dictionary takes ages to come onscreen, trying to make some network
  connection? then locks up for a while when you try to use it, 
  probably the same blocking operation

- Dictionary has Preferences under Settings menu, should be under 
  Edit menu.

- Text "100" for Nautilus zoom control isn't centered in the
  magnifying glass.

- pager doesn't clip workspace names to the mini-workspace, so when 
  it's too small it looks kind of worse than it could otherwise.

- Changing number of workspaces doesn't work with Metacity, 
  metacity's fault.
