I have now produced a guide to editing menus in gnome2, along with a
couple of scripts that hack around the problem with gnome 1.4 (create
categories line from the directory location of the desktop files)
These basically fix the main menu editing problems with the panel and
the guide explains other aspects.
This all now works properly on my system.
I have done some testing and the workaround seems fairly bulletproof.
So I have the following suggestions for the release notes
In quirks or bugs add the section
>>>>>>>
Menu editing
menu editing is not currently supported, if you wish to enable the
function see
http://www.redtux.demon.co.uk/docs/gnome_menu_edit_doc.20_6.txt
for instructions on menu editing.
<<<<<<<
Also I think the entries on bugs 73770 and 73773 should be removed or
amended as they just look wrong without menu editing being in place.
