I would be very much in favor for support of this protocol. I think it's really
useful. Of course it is totally unaccessible and quite unfamilar to users of
other desktops so we must provide a good traditional file save dialog, too.
But for users that get to know it, it's just far easier then navigating to the
various project directories again every time.
The only part if this protocol i don't like is that the saving application has
to ask to user for a name. If this would not be the case with could place the
drag source simply in the normal (non dialog) ui of the application. Galeon
does something simliar with the 'drag pager location from here' toolbar element.
But i don't know whether this fits into this protocol, The Filemanager/reciving
application would then have to ask for a filename.
I don't think that using the titlebar icon as drag source would be a good idea
in X11 land because it's done by the window manager, and in MDI/tabbed
applications it would be confusing what is represted by this IMHO.
BTW has anyone filed a feature request bug for this?
