havoc,
what is the plan on which package gconftool belongs?
your gnomehide packages have it living in GConf2 (although i had though
they didn't at one point).
the problem is, gnome 1 apps used to call gconftool, so i would assume
that GConf 1 would include gconftool, and all GConf2 things should call
gconftool-2 explicitly.
however, gconf-2.m4 calls gconftool rather than gconftool-2, and i had
been making most things call gconftool-2 explicitly.
my recommendation would be:
- deprecate use of gconftool in both gnome 1 and 2
- ship gconftool with gconf 1 for backwards compat
- do not ship / reference gconftool in gconf2, or any gnome 2 apps
(i guess the same applies to gconfd, except i don't think anything
called it directly)
but i may have been out of the loop.
