I would guess that: 1) This is fixed and the gtk version you have is old. 2) Debian does some funky things to there headers which makes this fail. Have only heard of this problem on Debian, anyway, it should be tracked down with the Gtk+ developers (or probably even better, the one that makes the Debian packages for Gtk+ and Glib).
