GNOME 2.0 Desktop 'Alpha' Release

Hi all,

It has been suggested - mostly by the wailing and gnashing of teeth of GNOME
hackers everywhere, and members of the release team bleeding from the ears
from said wailing - that the first desktop beta release be renamed to an
alpha.

There are no plans to reschedule in the near future, which means we have
only one beta and one release candidate left before release for significant
public testing.

[ 'Alpha' - whilst often misinterpreted as 'sucks more' - means 'heavily in
development'. So, if you're not already heavily developing, it's TIME TO
KICK ASS! ]
