Almost certainly not; it is simply an implementation that sits behind
the Bonobo file selection API; that API is relatively simple, and not
suitable for all apps, falling back to Gtk's file selector if no
component is installed.
So it's up to you if you want to use it really; clearly to use it an
app must use the bonobo file selection API, or gnome-file-selector
itself directly.
