I trying to get a clear view of the kind of panic I should go into. What issues are most eminent before 2.16? These are of the top of my head (in no particular order)...

(1) Popup mode cannot focus. The popup mode does not gain focus (most of the time) when shown via the keyboard shortcut. I fear this is tricky one - focus issues always are.

(2) Popup mode, has no dbus activation (coupled to focus issues too). This means we need to load the entire deskbar each time the installed menu entry is selected. We need to have a soft-dependancy dbus activation for popup mode so that we can show the popup on dbus calls. I have an elegant solution hashed out for this, but this mail is not big enough to contain it (guess which famous mathematician I'm paraphrasing). I fear this is intertwined with (1).

(3) Panel transparency - I have a few glitches in button mode, that disappears when I move the applet by middle-dragging it. Can anyone reproduce?

(4) NSM punt? Maybe just add a link in the prefs to an official webpage?
