Problem starting beagled

Hey guys.  Please forgive me if I'm missing something obvious.  I've
installed all pre-reqs and
beagle-0.0.6.0.200502012226-0.snap.novell.0.1.  When I try to start
beagled I get the following error:

Unhandled Exception: System.TypeInitializationException: An exception

System.Exception: Could not open /dev/inotify

I have kernel-source-2.6.8-737.inotify.2 and
kernel-default-2.6.8-737.inotify.2 installed and this is all running
on Novell Desktop Linux.  /dev/inotify does not exist.  When and how
is it created?
