I originally sent this message to federico. He told me to mail this list
and that I should be working on gnomecal and not evolution (i.e.
Helixcode will derive the gnomecal source into evolution framework).
Anyway, could somebody awnser this message in that context?
I'm sorry if you got this mailing twice - but it does not appear as the
first message/time got through. This actually the 3rd time (I realized I
did not subscribe properly).
Anyway, I was also thinking a bit about this and realized that the
'native' date/time format on Linux/Unix is Gregorian based. Would it be
'feasible' to implement a low-level Linux/Unix solution first or should
the Lunar Calendar be based on some sort of 'conversion' from the date in
Linux/Unix. Hmmm, come to think of it - doesn't the Linux/Unix date just
return a 'seconds elapsed' since 1979 or something like that?
Anyway - Federico mentioned a discussion was done on this before - but I
haven't seen it (just a brief discussion in gnome-list - nothing on any
list about actual implementation or ideas for implementation).
Any info is appreciated :)

Hi federico,
I was recently interested in expanding my horizons and work on some other
software instead of gLife (I'm rak from #gnome) - I'm specifically
interested in getting more into GNOME code.
Since the major effort is all going into evolution, I wanted to 'explore'
that possibility. Specifically, I was interested on what is required for
lunar calendar support for Evolution. I come from a culture (Arab) that
uses the Lunar Calendar, so I am pretty experienced with it (there are
some Lunar Calendar quirks since one month can be either 29/30 days
depending on Moon Sighting). I believe this is just in the "Islamic"
calendar (which is lunar based). Enough rambling.
Anyway, is the PCS (i can't remember that weird name you gave it
tlchauch or something) in a state for hacking? What kind of stuff should
I know/read up on for evolution (i.e. bonobo? CORBA?)? What exactly is
needed for lunar calendar support? What files should I begin looking at?
What specifications should I look at (icalendar? vcalendar?) and where
can I find them?
I'm just proving right now to see if this is something that I have the
experience/knowledge to work on...Sooo, interested in some possible help?
Please email me with your reply :)
Sincerly,
Ali Abdin
