Hi Oscar,
Rug doesn't seem to allow me to properly update. Either that or I already have the latest versions of these packages, and Banshee doesn't see them. How can I install all of the appropriate packages at once? I download a zip file of several RPMs but I can't seem to install them all together, and when I try to install one at a time, I get unresolved discrepancies, and thus it does not install correctly.
The page you linked there has the following instructions at the top:
rug sa
http://go-mono.com/download
rug sub mono-1.1-official
rug sub gtk-sharp-official
rug sub mono-tools-official
rug in mono-complete gtk-sharp
Now, it won't let me subscribe to gtk-sharp-official or mono-tools-official. It says these channels do not exist, which really screws me, doesn't it? Does anyone keep this stuff up-to-date? I keep returning to linux hoping that it has gotten itself together, but each time I try it again I get frustrated! I just don't have time to mess around like this just for a damn MP3 player. <g>
Is there a command line that I can run from the decompressed folder full of RPM packages to install all of mono at once? I can't seem to get YaST to do anything properly.
Thanks!
Cheers,
Noel

Hi,
You have to install the latest GTK-Sharp 2, AFAIK is 2.8.1 ; I have found that the easiest way to keep mono and its components up to day is to use their red-carpet server.
Here can you find the instructions for Suse 10:

I have the same problem and was solved as soon as i did a ¨rug up¨

Oscar.

Hello,
I'm trying to compile 0.10.6 but every time I try to ./configure it tells me
that my gtk version is not high enough, which it is. This is the error it
gives me:
"checking for GTKSHARP... Requested 'gtk- sharp- 2.0 >= 2.7' but version of
Gtk is 2.4.0
configure: error: Package requirements (gtk- sharp- 2.0 >= 2.7
gnome- sharp- 2.0 >= 2.7 gnome- vfs- sharp-
2.0 >= 2.7 glade- sharp- 2.0 >=
2.7 gconf- sharp- 2.0 >= 2.7) were not met.
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non- standard prefix.
Alternatively you may set the GTKSHARP_CFLAGS and GTKSHARP_LIBS environment
variables
to avoid the need to call pkg- config. See the pkg- config man page for
more details."
Why isn't it seeing my newer version? I'm excited to try the new build!
Thanks.
Cheers,
Noel
