Do you want to get this "mpd as base and Banshee as player" (like mpd+gmpc) fuse? So you could start mpd and bring its status to Banshees window? Because to me, it sounds like creating a whole new mpd GUI -application would be easier to do. And there you could use mono. 

But if you mean to have music library, podcasts and mpd-db on the same window, then it would sound better. Still, I have no idea why you have to keep Banshees and mpd's databases so different. Just import the same directories to Banshee what you have in MPD. 

Don't get me wrong, I just don't get it.
