I do not really have a clean workaround to offer. The cleanest way
would be to add a function to libmutt that updates all the needed
headers for the selected set of messages, that should be fairly clean
and quick.
Since it might involve change in libmutt, it might be worth checking
where the mutt guys are heading (Carlos, have you coincidentally got
some info on this?).
