Yes, you are right. I thought that they use UTF-8 also.
The UTF-16 has one adventage - fixed length (yes I know, that it was 
redefined - the fixed length is now UCS-2). But I don't know which one 
they use.

Anyway, thanks. I thought that exchanging text documents between linux and 
windows will be easier but I was wrong.
