I don't understand your problem : my patch is only done to work with GPG signed
messages in ASCII text mode (RFC 2440) and I don't use GNOME MIME types at the
present time.

In a near future, I will develop PGP/MIME type support for Balsa (RFC 3156).
"content type application/pgp" is defined in PGP/MIME types and is not used with
GPG ASCI text format.
