Fonts messed up in header?

Hi All -

  Just building a new system, and for some reason the fonts in the header
section are screwed up?  I've tried different fonts and get the same
problem (both non-2bit and 2 bit).

  The subject line comes out fine, but the From, To, CC, etc information is
mangled - looks like a bunch of boxes with crosses between them.  If I
highlight and paste them in xclipboard, they come out correct ?!?!

  Anyone have any ideas?  Balsa 1.2.0 and FreeBSD 4.4.

  Hmmm - I'll check the fonts on the Xserver, but.....
