While horizontal shading is too weird for a normal WM, you might want to
provide a hint for _NET_WM_STATE (if this is changed to a list of
ATOMS).

another extension could be _NET_ROLLUP_HEIGHT for applications that want
to draw the rolled up size themselves (most winamp clones).
