How initialize pixmap to something besides NULL?

For various reasons I want to initialize
a pixmap (GdkPixmap*) to something besides NULL.

Is there another quick and easy thing I can
initialize pixmap object too?

(There is a command to return a pointer to
a new pixmap object but I did not understand
the first arg.)
