If you are running Gnome, then Gtk+ and glib will be installed. You may
beed to make sure you have the development headers installed as well.
(Called gtk+-devel and glib-devel in Redhat and Mandrake.)

You may already have everything you need installed.

If you do install from source (a last resort if you are new to this), be
aware that Redhat-like installations install the libraries to /usr/lib and
the install code by default installs to /usr/local/lib. This can be
overridden in the ./configure script. If you get error messages about
conflicting version numbers, then you have made this mistake. (./configure
--prefix=/usr is your friend.)
