GtkStyle

  I agree, meaning that I don't think it's a good idea to change the
_default_ appearance of gtk.
  However, I guess some effort could be put in enhancing the
GtkStyle/gtkrc mechanism, so the look of the widgets could be changed
outside the application, using something like loadable modules. Then
Patrice's patches could be in an optional module.
  The default look would be still hardcoded in the GTK library, so it
could be used whenever it is needed (or desired).
  BTW, some ideas could be shared with the SCWM team, which already
support a wm-side configurable look. The SCWM page is located at

  I'd _love_ to help with this, but I currently can't afford enough
time to start such task. =(
