[GnomeMeeting-list] Weird sound effect

Hello,
 I have installed two different versions of gnomemeeting on two different 
laptops. Gnomemeeting versions 0.96.1 and 0.85.1. I connect the laptops 
using a crossover cable (connected directly to each other). I enable all 
available audio codecs, I can transmit audio/video from one laptop to the 
other BUT there are many late packets and the sound has an effect that could 
described as gaps or echo.

Do you think that using different gnomemeeting versions has anything to do 
with it?

Could you propose any reasons for this effect or any actions I could take?
