Please don't flame me for my opinion, but...

I too feel that Nautilus is big---and useless for the way that *I* work. But
I think it is excellent for those who are comfortable with graphical
type shells. For me, using Gnome2 with Naultilus made me realize that
I only really use X for its graphical capabilities (www browser,
Gimp, GGV, etc), not for being able to click on icons and folders.
*But*, when I tried to turn off Nautilus, I couldn't get pictures of my
beautiful daughter on the background. So I have been using Windomaker
lately, which works more like what I want, but I can still use some Gnome2
apps like GGV, etc.

Maybe when Gnome2 is a little less tightly bound to Nautilus I will
try it again.

And of course, the Gnome team has done a great job, don't mistake my
comments!
