again special german characters

Hello @all,

I can't repeat it but today the german character worked for a few 
minutes in my root account.
Then I tried my user account and there it did not work any more.
I switched back to the root acount but now it does not work there too.

My first thaught it was that it could be a problem from orca or 
gnopernicus but it seems that the problem is a gnome configuration 
problem.

Any ideas what I can try?
