I cannot imagine why someone would want to view a pdf in the browser window instead of in a dedicated pdf viewer. But if you really want that, you need the acrobat reader mozilla plugin. (I don't even know if that will work on FreeBSD).

The fact that some (pdf) hyperlinks will force epiphany to open a new window which then stays blank, is a known problem but hard to fix.

What's the best way (for a newbie like me) to get to #gnome-nl?

Launch your favourite irc program (if have never used one, Gaim will do nicely) and open a connection to irc.gnome.org. Then simply join the #gnome-nl or #epiphany channel. See also http://nl.gnome.org/gnome-nl.php
