Just for the sake of contraddicting myself ...

Progressive page loading act as a form of feedback too, maybe it was
more useful when pages was rendered after downloading the whole content.
Also progress bar feedback cant be very accurate because it has to be
built on the number of the requests rather than on the total size of the
files to download.
The fact that the progress was totally borked in galeon for a few years,
and that no one filed a bug about it, and the fact that IE just hide the
progress by default, _may_ make an evidence that the feedback progress
bar provide isnt that useful ...

Not trying to make a point for removal, just adding more to my first
superficial reaction to the proposal.
