Ah, you might have missed my posting about debian packages for epiphany,
at http://debian.usefulinc.com/.  In fact, these have been uploaded to
sid so should make it into unstable before too long.

There are two ways you can do this in ephy.  Make sure you've imported
your galeon bookmarks first.

 * add another toolbar (with Edit->toolbars) then open the bookmarks
editor, and drag and drop the smart bookmark you want into the toolbar

or, 

 * just type the phrase you want into the location bar and choose the
smart bookmark from the dropdown
