My preferred solution to all such issues is to ensure that key
mappings can be easily changed by the user, as desired. Then the issue
becomes a question of what the default should be, and assumes less
importance because anyone who so wishes can change it via a
configuration option.
One of the great advantages of many free software programs is their
support for a broad variety of configuration options. I hope these
advantages will be retained by the Gnome environment.
