Configure.in has a line that reads:
configure.in:LIBS="$LIBS -lgstcontrol"

ofcource instead of using hard lib names, it should use the values which 
it gets from pkgconfig.. The reason i bumped into this is because this 
breaks the compile when your running gstreamer-0.5 (it has new lib names 
to be more gnome2 compliant it seems)
