We had this discussion months ago. I was very vocal complaining about this "feature" but the Eazel folks wanted to make it look pretty.
Maybe now would be a good time to bring this up again. Personally, I see nothing wrong with doing it the way GMC has always done it. Matter of fact, I went back to GMC just for this reason. (and it's a hell of a lot faster)
