I use the attached script for this sort of thing. It makes use of lsof, and is music-player independent as a result of that. :) It reads mp3s and oggs, using id3info and ogginfo. For other music players, change APPLICATION to something else (for Muine we need to use mono, rather than muine or muine.exe).
